Queens Park Cafe Hilly ride to Old Whittington via the canal, then to Unstone, Holmebrook Valley Park and Linacre Reservoir stopping at Cutthorpe Creamery for tea and cake.
This route initially takes the station link and then the canal before climbing on minor roads to Old Whittington. We then drop to the Peak resort track and follow cycle paths and minor roads through Dunston to Holmebrook Valley Park. We leave through the top of the park to Cutthorpe and the cafe stop. After that we follow the road through Cutthorpe and up to the Linacre car park entrance before we follow the bridleway back down to Holme Hall and the Hipper Valley Trail back to the park. This ride is 16 miles with between 900 and 1000 feet of ups and downs. It’s not a fast ride, its at a moderate sociable pace, and we aim to be finished by 2pm
This is a level three ride – mixed terrain with noticeable gradients / hills and over 10 miles. Suitable for the more experienced rider who can maintain an easy moderate pace throughout.
