The last Forum meeting was in Derby on Saturday June 22nd 2019, and hosted by Derby Cycling Group.
In the morning there was presentation by Phil Jones of Phil Jones Associates who are writing the new government guide to cycling infrastructure (replacing the last one from 2008). Members of other local cycling groups gave updates from their areas. After lunch there were visits to Bike Back Derby, the Velodrome and BMX track.
The next meeting is scheduled to be held in Nottingham.
What is the East Midlands Cycle Forum?
It is an informal group who have met on an as hoc basis in previous years. It is made up from representatives of the cycle campaign groups from the East Midlands. Regular attendees are from Derby, Nottingham, Leicester, Lincoln, Chesterfield, Northampton and Loughborough. Anyone is welcome to attend the forums meetings. To date they have mostly been run to the same format, speakers and discussion of local and regional cycling issues in the morning, lunch with time for discussion followed by a ride around the host town or city to look at their cycle infrastructure.
The previous meetings have been held in Derby, Nottingham, Lincoln and Leicester. Chesterfield hosted its first meeting in the Spring of 2008. We staged our second meeting in Chesterfield on September 22nd 2012 at the Stonegravels Parish Centre. A variety of speakers, lunch and a ride to the Hollingwood Hub.
We staged the 2016 meeting also at Stonegravels Parish Centre with a ride taking in the new station link.
