Chesterfield Cycle Campaign has no objection to this development but we note there is no cycle parking provided. Given that these are assisted living units the need for cycle parking is perhaps reduced, however each set of buildings has a ‘staff hub’ and it is quite likely staff could arrive for work by bicycle. Residents may also have visitors arriving by bicycle so we suggest two Sheffield stands should be incorporated on the development, ideally in an overlooked location next to one of the main entrances.

 

With Chesterfield Borough Council’s recent declaration of a climate emergency it is vital that provision is made for means of sustainable transport and cycle parking at all new developments must be included.
