Ride to Avenue Works Nature Reserve

Join us for a cycling journey from the Queens Park Cafe in Chesterfield, to the tranquil haven of Avenue Works Nature Reserve. Discover the story of this former industrial site’s transformation into a thriving nature reserve, as we explore scenic cycle paths and enjoy some nature along the way.
Highlights:
- Immerse yourself in the beauty of Avenue Works Nature Reserve, where lush greenery and tranquil water await. Learn about the site’s remarkable metamorphosis from heavy industry to a flourishing sanctuary for wildlife.
- Take a short break at the bird hides, where you can soak in the serenity of the surroundings and possibly even observe some of the birdlife that calls the reserve home.
On the ride we’ll decide whether to extend the route to Grasmoor Country Park, returning to Chesterfield via Hasland. If we extend the route to Grassmoor Country Park there is a short steep hill up a tarmac road and then a gentle tarmac climb towards Hasland before dropping back into Chesterfield

- This ride is suitable for cyclists of all abilities, with a slow pace ensuring everyone can enjoy the journey.
- This ride has a short steep hill to get into Avenue Works on a stony gravel surface. The paths in the Avenue works are stony gravel but are suitable for all bikes
- Participants under 16 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
