Promoting, encouraging and campaigning for safe and convenient local cycling opportunities
Celebrate Ben Vernon’s life and raise some money for charity on the annual Ben Vernon Charity Ride. This years charity is Cancer Research UK.
The ride will start at 10:30am, but please arrive from 10am to sign-in. The ride has two routes, both starting from the Vicar Lane big screen.
The Family Route is four miles long. It’s mainly on cycle paths but does use the road at times.
From Vicar Lane it heads on cycle paths to Queen’s Park where it picks up the Station Link Path. After the station it goes down Brimington Road and then onto the canal towpath.
At Tapton Lock it heads under the Tesco Roundabout and down the side of Casa to follow the Stonegravels Way cycle path back into town.
The Good Ride Route is thirteen miles on-road, off-road and on cycle paths.
It follows the same route up to Tapton Lock, but rather than turning off it carries on along the canal towpath, eventually reaching Staveley and returning via the Trans-Pennine Trail.
