On Monday 8th January the Campaign secretary spoke at CBC’s planning committee against the housing development off the Sainsbury’s roundabout citing poor sustainable transport connections against CBC’s core strategy of ‘prioritising walking and cycling access to and within developments’. Unfortunately the application was passed by the committee.
On Thursday 11th January DCC’s lead member for transport Cllr Simon Spencer was considering the DCC project to build a shared path between Unstone Green (Peak Resort entrance) and Dronfield. Our secretary spoke to give our Campaign’s and Dronfield’s ‘Cycling4Everyone’ support. Unstone parish councillor Richard Smith and DCC ‘lead member for young people’ Cllr Alex Dale spoke against the idea despite it will provide a safe route to Unstone Junior school. The decision was deferred for two months pending further consultation.
You can view the officers report supporting the scheme here. If you wish to write a letter of support before the scheme is finally decided in March the DCC councillors names above are links to their email addresses.
